Is the LMS dead? - how learning technologies are changing at Learning Technologies 2011
There is always plenty of comment around about the latest and greatest devices, technologies and approaches to learning. It's not always balanced, and the comment often promises more than it can deliver. David Wilson is one of the top advisers to corporate business on technology-supported learning; at Learning Technologies 2011 he will take a longer-term view of the current state of learning systems and technologies, and look at how they and their use have changed over the years. What are organisations aiming to achieve with their learning systems and platforms, and what changes can we expect to see in the future.
"David Wilson's session will ask: 'is the learning management system dead and what impact will web 2.0, social media and informal learning have on corporate learning systems?" said Learning Technologies Conference Chair, Donald Taylor.
In a wide-ranging analysis of the current environment for learning systems, Europe's leading analyst in the field, David Wilson will describe the current landscape in detail and points to some trends that will affect enterprise learning in the future. Among the points he will explore are the consolidation of multiple LMS platforms and whether it is possible to provide a single point of access for learning," added Taylor.
David Wilson's session also asks:
What impact will software-as-a-service (SaaS) have on organisational learning?
Who should be producing your learning content now?
Is open source and Moodle a game changer, or just another product?
Whatever happened to portals, intranets and yesterday's hot tools?
Who will the winners and losers be in the future of learning systems?
The Learning Technologies 2011 conference takes place on 26-27 January 2011 at London Olympia 2. Learning Technologies conference programme and bookings.
