From TikTok to the Workplace: The Evolution of the learning experience in 2026
Thursday 30 April 2026
Seminar Theatre 8
Last year’s talk explored the influence of the “TikTok generation” on workplace learning, yet this influence is now spreading way beyond Gen Z. The increased prevalence of short form media across all outlets has seen an almost seismic shift in the way we discover and consume news, entertainment, knowledge and learning.
Consumers want this content to be personalised, immediate and focused. Combine this with the exponential increase in AI capability to engage 1-1 with us, there are increasing expectations that the learning we engage with both professionally and personally does the same.
Short-form content, algorithm-driven discovery and peer influence are rapidly becoming the new ‘normal’. People increasingly expect learning to be relevant, immediate and embedded in the platforms they already use every day.
In this session, Peter from Netex revisits the theme for 2026, exploring what these shifts mean for organisations trying to engage busy professionals in learning. If traditional content is struggling to retain engagement, what does effective learning look like now?
Drawing on real world examples and the evolution of learning media from schools to the workplace, this session will explore how organisations are rethinking learning experiences to better align with modern expectations and effectiveness.
- Why the “TikTok effect” is generationally spreading how we expect to discover and consume knowledge and learning at work
- How fast things have changed in just one year for organisational delivery of learning and learner expectation
- What are the key themes and areas of focus which will shape future thinking and practice around learning – what you should be thinking about right now!
- What tools and skills will learning professionals need to stay relevant and deliver impact, how will you leverage internal capability?
