Building a Learning & Development function from scratch is challenging—especially with limited resources and growing expectations. In this session, Sam Mantoufe shares the story of building a modern L&D function within a global Belgian manufacturing group that made a strategic decision to invest in people development, foster a learning culture, and strengthen knowledge transfer across its operations.
Drawing on expertise in leadership development, change management and learning design, Sam will explore how a high-impact L&D ecosystem was built and scaled within the first year of launching the company’s LMS. This included creating a strong learning brand, driving employee engagement, and achieving high completion rates within the first year.
Rather than relying on technology alone, the session highlights how AI was used to optimise, accelerate and scale learning initiatives. Sam will introduce the four practical roles AI played within the L&D team—from instructional design support to strategic sparring and scalable content development.
