Impact over activity: The cost of L&D not owning performance
In this panel session, our host Harry Chapman-Walker will be joined by special guests to explore why Learning & Development struggles to demonstrate real business value, and what happens when it doesn’t take ownership of performance. Too often, L&D is measured by activity rather than impact, leaving a critical gap between what is delivered and what leaders actually care about: risk reduction, retention, productivity, and revenue.
Through an open discussion, we’ll unpack the consequences of this disconnect, from declining executive confidence to missed opportunities for organisational growth. More importantly, we’ll examine how L&D can shift its role, from reporting on learning to driving measurable outcomes that leaders can see, trust, and act on.
This session will provide a clearer perspective on how to reposition learning as a strategic lever for performance, not just a record of activity.
