T1S2 - Skills-based talent management
If you’re looking to build and implement a skills framework, join this session. You’ll hear from two organisations with lessons to share about their journey, from design considerations to links to job roles and training to stakeholder engagement. The goals: better career development, internal mobility and more. These can all be achieved, but you’ll need to avoid common implementation mistakes along the way…
Designing a skills infrastructure for targeted learning and talent mobility
The session will guide participants on how to build skills frameworks and bring them to life. They could be focused on one profession, or a general skills-based career development framework across an organisation. We will explore where (and why) to start, how to engage stakeholders and what issues you might face. As important to implementation is what happens after the framework is built. What are the issues around implementation, ensuring buy-in and maintaining the framework to ensure it continues to reflect current practice?
- Deciding which skills to focus on (because you can’t do everything)
- Defining skills in a way that is useful and consistent
- Linking skills to job roles and resources and talent
- The infrastructure you need to make this work
- Implementation pitfalls to avoid
