Tony Frascina is an experienced learning designer and consultant working in training, teaching and research. Formerly from a science education background, he has a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, and has presented his work on user-centred design internationally. With decades of experience of designing learning, text based materials and workshops, he has established his own company, Objective Training Ltd. The company is provides learning design and consultancy services to sectors including international NGOs, government departments and agencies, blue chip companies, the service sector, charities and universities. As a Director on the Board of the Learning Network, Tony is now in his 13th year as Chair of Judges of the highly prestigious Learning Technologies Awards. Leading a team of over 60 experts in the field of elearning, he selects and allocates judges and ensures the independence, rigour and fairness of the judging process. He annually reviews categories and judging criteria to guarantee valid emerging trends are reflected. His ability to engage and communicate with a range of clients, stakeholders and subject matter experts at every level, across disciplines, makes him an excellent learning consultant and designer. He has developed content on subjects as diverse as neuroscientific research, bilateral diplomacy between governments and fiscal compliance in multinational corporations. His approach is to identify and establish performance requirements in order to define and produce clear, rigorous, imaginative and interactive learning. It is this approach that helps his clients achieve the required level of performance. In addition to working as a learning designer, Tony runs workshops and seminars focusing on quality and effectiveness in learning design. He provides guidance and techniques to enable designers to produce material that help to develop skills for workplace practice.
