Best use of simulations or virtual environments for learning

Saudi Aramco - Construction Safety

Saudi Aramco is one of the world’s largest energy companies employing over 60,000 people globally. The level of risk involved in the organisation’s activities means that its teams have to be trained to an exceptional level. The company turned to Babcock Learning Solutions to develop an innovative solution that reflected its diverse activities, the risks its teams face and the standards it sets itself.
An extensive Virtual Reality construction site was developed with over 200 variable factors to enable users to effectively identify correct unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, delivering an engaging, interactive learning experience closely matching the live experience.

ICARUS Business Simulation - UCL, Unicorn and LAS

In 2016, the University of London (UoL) launched its international MSc in Professional Accountancy. An initiative between UoL, UCL and ACCA (the world’s largest accountancy professional body), this programme – the first of its kind – is unique in its virtual availability to students worldwide and the utilising of a complex and highly immersive simulation.

Unicorn and LAS were approached to design and build this simulation. Focusing on demonstrable learner engagement and tangible outcomes required to secure the future of the programme, this project has been an unprecedented success, boasting a 40% uplift on uptake, and 95% student pass rate.

3D Organon VR Anatomy - Medis Media

3D Organon VR Anatomy is the world’s first fully-featured virtual reality (VR) anatomy atlas. It is an award-winning interactive educational application specially designed for VR devices. With possibility to explore and study more than 4,000 realistic anatomical structures and organs, and with the unique advantage of stereoscopic presentation, the application is an engaging educational tool for experiential learning. 3D Organon VR Anatomy is bridging the gap between traditional learning approaches and emerging technologies, shaping the future of medical education.

BNP Paribas Emerging Talent Programme

Within  the transformation journey at BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking, the HR leadership was tasked to embed six behavioural mindsets in an increased talent population, at faster pace, but a reduced budget. The solution was a highly bespoke, intensely team-based, yet virtual learning programme, using four custom simulations accessed by team members located across nineteen countries.

The programme succeeded in bringing to life the six mindsets and exceeded expectations in the strength of the diverse relationships formed, the collaborative mindset fostered and the new leadership model encouraged. Engagement levels increased during the programme with average scores of 4.3/5.

ABN AMRO & TinQwise - Dealing with conflicting interests: A VR experience

TinQwise developed a state-of-the-art learning solution for ABN AMRO that offers actual experience and comprehension to Head Quarters employees on how their business decisions affect Branch Office employees’ behaviour and ultimately customer satisfaction. The unique learning solution combines 2D and 3D technology into an asymmetrical multiplayer where 2 players must collaborate to achieve the right balance between business results (KPIs) and Customer Satisfaction (NPS). Player 1 decides on dilemmas at HQ level, player 2 deals with the consequences in the virtual Branch Office. The roles will also be reversed. Afterwards, the experience is discussed with a Branch Office employee.
