Steve Wheeler

Senior Lecturer in Education and ICT, University of Plymouth

Steve Wheeler has spent his entire professional career working in learning media and technology, predominantly in nurse education and teacher training. He is currently a senior lecturer in education and information technology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Plymouth. He is technology mediated learning co-ordinator for the faculty and also convenes the University’s e-learning research network.

Steve serves on the boards of a number of peer reviewed academic journals including ALT-J and IRRODL, and is the co-editor of Interactive Learning Environments. He is chair of IFIP Working Group 3.6 (Distance Education) and is a Fellow of the European Distance and E-Learning Network. His research interests include e-learning, social media, mobile technologies, creativity and student support. His most recent book, published in 2009 is entitled ‘Connected Minds, Emerging Cultures’.
