GOLD

Evans Cycles Digital Journey

Evans Cycles

An impressive example of how digital learning can really transform an organisation's overall learning strategy. The team demonstrated that they understood what learners needed to perform better, and also responded swiftly to learner feedback contributing to a learning platform that delivers for all stakeholders. Where appropriate, they collaborated with external brand partners to ensure that a diverse mix of learning content was available. Finally, they made a solid case for how the platform has helped drive improved performance across their retail estate and have plans to develop the platform further to support the organisation moving forward. Overall an outstanding example of how digital learning can really support both people development and business improvement.

SILVER

The Sage Code of Conduct

Sage & Sub10

The innovative approach to the design of learning content, combining emotive design with sentiment analysis, really made this entry stand out. The focus during performance consulting on how learners should act and feel, rather than what they needed to know, was refreshing. The team also demonstrated a technically innovative approach to capturing users' sentiment as they went through the programme.

BRONZE

VIC - your Virtual Interactive Coach

This clever platform uses search and hyperlinking technology, combined with sticky content and frictionless linkages to development goals, to provide a personalised development experience. An especially impressive project given short timelines.

From start to finish, this project showcases best practice in learning technology implementation.

SILVER

Overall, this project is an inspiring example of the impact intelligent use of technology can have on a business.

Best learning technologies project - UK public/non-profit sector

GOLD

Clinical Digital Transformation – Big Bang!

Dogs Trust & Covetrus

This project was almost textbook, showing that technology application to solve a business-critical problem is more important than the learning technology investment itself. Updating their ancient but clinical system was fundamental to increasing transparency, reducing costs, and improving the data across the organisation.

The programme blended role related learning journeys, performance support, super users and peer to peer support. This was a cross divisional project working with multiple stakeholders. Virtual meet ups were used to capture and address knowledge gaps after the big bang approach and new super user roles were created to support with local expertise. No stone was left unturned and this worthy winner was able to show the fruits of their labour through significant time and cost savings.

SILVER

Computer-based Exam Practice Platform

ACCA

Accountancy students were faced with increasingly complex examinations, so the team wanted to find a solution for their global students to help them improve pass rates. The system created a practice environment that was as close as possible to the environment that the students would face.

This elegant platform used practice questions to prepare students and also encouraged peer to peer review.  It also allowed tutors around the globe to engage with the process following a tiered pathway that built confidence and capability for embedding the platform into their own delivery and support.

The judges loved this clever yet obvious solution to exam practice and suspect this approach may soon become the norm for exam preparation.

BRONZE

ACE-earn your wings for pseudo-pilot training

NATS

This project mapped the modernisation of a traditional learning process aimed at driving down cost whilst increasing the quality of learning outputs. The judges particularly liked the project approach including trainees and trainers and role SMEs. The strong reliance on evidence informed practice ensured a new blend of learning interventions that built confidence and knowledge of the trainees prior to entering the expensive world of the simulator.

This perfect training making it as real as possible was a remarkably simple idea, but making it happen in such a complex world is to be celebrated.

Best use of mobile learning

GOLD

A Life in a Day

The Method

A truly inspirational project which has demonstrated a fundamental understanding of the psychological relationship between a user and their mobile device. This is proof that successful mobile learning can be achieved with little technological innovation but instead focusing on the users and the expected outcomes of the project. The thoughtfulness around not only immersing the user into the perspective of their patient audience but also doing related tasks were inspired.  The judges found that it would be all but impossible to deliver the learning experience on anything other than a mobile device, which made this entry stand out as a worthy category winner.

SILVER

StoryShare learn

StoryShare Platform Limited

A great example of mobile learning stepping in to fill the void when big, connected screens are not available in certain geographies. The judges were impressed by the combination of a clear rationale for mobile usage, the understanding of the environment in which the tool will be used (which resulted in increased reach) and a razor-sharp focus on business impact. There was a solid grasp of the potential of mobile to augment performance, experiences and lives and its ability to scale up effectively.

BRONZE

MyKnowledgeMap & Cuppacare

A great project that demonstrates not only a clear rationale for the use of mobile devices but also an understanding of how mobile devices are used in an effective way and one that helped the developers reach audiences that wouldn't be reached otherwise. They were also very mindful about how users could own their data considering they often work with a number of care homes.

Best use of social and collaborative learning technologies

GOLD

Working with Ten Group to connect their global community through social and collaborative learning technology

Learn Amp

The implementation of this learning platform has clearly raised the bar in this organisation and showed how learning culture can influence business results. The learning was successfully mapped to business objectives, and this was borne out in business results. The autonomy and ability for someone to curate their own learning, contribute to other's learning and take a learning pathway whilst working towards performance goals shows a range of functionality being utilised both socially collaboratively and individually. This initiative helped the organisation become ready for learning during the pandemic.

SILVER

Threat Model Colony

Google and Plum eLearning

An honest review of the in person learning model led to a gamified alternative being developed. This approach enabled the learners to immerse themselves in identifying real life threats and collaboratively finding solutions through a simulation. The impact of the learning approach enabled cross discipline collaboration, blurring the lines between a simulated learning environment and a real-life application.

The judges were impressed at the quality learning solution on offer in such a complex field of work, especially with the speed to deployment and a scalability which was unavailable with the face to face model.

BRONZE

How to Teach Online

FutureLearn

As an emergency response to Covid19, FutureLearn, one of the biggest players in the MOOC space, used their expertise to share online learning knowledge to create a support programme for teachers who were new to the online teaching.

The judges appreciated the presentation structure and flow which expertly showcased the content for learners. The community element of the design, implied by the MOOC format, was helpful for the learners to build a community of practice. Most innovative new learning technologies product

GOLD

Talking Talent Online digital coaching for working parents

Talking Talent

The judges loved the deeply ethical approach taken to the design of this coaching tool which made it stand out from the pack. The functionality that was left out of the tool was as important as what was put in. Wonderful to see the Center for Humane Technology soundly referenced in the design process. The judges hope that this is the first of many such digital products where users' wider wellbeing is prioritised above so-called 'engagement' with the app / tool / game / social network. It's a difficult balance to strike in the user-attention arms race, which is the digital space today, but one the judges felt Talking Talent strikes beautifully.

SILVER

Learnerbly

Learnerbly is a really elegant learning content marketplace which puts personal development into the hands of the person - a radical but entirely logical idea! It simultaneously makes learning more human centred, whilst reducing costs for the employer and simplifying the purchasing of learning content and services. BRONZE

The judges can see this project doing a lot of good.

SAFER Training

This use case merited very highly for a clear rationale for the use of simulation. This was a very impressive entry for a project both defined by data and evaluated through it, which is exactly what this category exists to celebrate. The judges were particularly impressed that data was used outside of L&D and by the alignment to a robust framework that was mapped to the accountancy process lifecycle. Well done for delivering such an ambitious and well executed project.
