Learning Technologies 2025: Curtains close on another successful edition of Europe's leading L&D event

Now Learning Technologies 2025 has come to a close, we reflect on another inspiring chapter in the evolution of workplace learning. This year’s event once again placed the spotlight on the powerful convergence of learning, people, and technology – cementing its role as a cornerstone for the L&D community.

Over 11,000 learning and development professionals gathered at Excel London, exploring the innovations shaping the future of workplace learning. The exhibition buzzed with energy, featuring over 200 cutting-edge technology providers and packed with insights from 200+ free-to-attend seminars. Meanwhile, the conference hosted 1,000 delegates, who engaged with more than 80 expert speakers and facilitators tackling the most pressing topics in L&D today.

Join us as we look back at the standout moments, emerging trends, and transformative conversations that made Europe’s leading workplace learning event truly unforgettable in 2025...

Learning and thriving in a time of change: The thought-provoking conference

This year’s conference programme focused on all the key challenges that L&D is facing today, featuring AI, skills development, personal growth, data-driven decision-making, and more. It was two days of insightful discussions, invaluable insights, and powerful networking among our delegates.

It was my first year attending the Learning Technologies Conference and I can't wait to return next year! I've come back to work inspired to innovate and equipped with new ideas for implementation. Thank you for bringing together such a wonderful and diverse collection of speakers!Senior Process Manager: Learning & Development at Cambridge University Press & Assessment

The conference kicked off with an introduction from our Conference Chair, Donald H Taylor, opening the conversation to navigate what comes next for L&D. The Day 1 Opening Address was led by David Kelly, Chairman at the Learning Guild, and Dani Johnson, Co-Founder & Principal Analyst at RedThread Research. Together, they explored the state of our industry, looking beyond AI, and to the technologies that made AI even possible – and how they affect our day-to-day lives.

David Kelly said that when it comes to the benefits of AI, its efficiency leads to time saving. David questioned: 'But what are we doing with that time saving? What are we adding to the equation that is uniquely human that we would never be able to do before?'. It's the challenge of utilising AI rather than letting it replace us as L&D workers. Learning and development, at the core, is about people, and the technology we use to learn should fit around our people.

The Opening Address on Day 2 featured Daniel J Hulme, Chief AI Officer at WPP, who focused on the topic that’s on everyone’s minds: AI. It’s here to stay, and how L&D teams choose to tackle its challenges and reap its benefits will be paramount to success. He shared his thoughts on the controversy around AI, pointing out how 'AI misinformation, bots and DeepFakes have challenged our political foundations.' Daniel discussed how we can work towards a seamless transition to working with it, and how we can encourage and maintain AI’s alignment to human values.

Inspiring, motivating and engaging. This conference offers great value for money and is the must attend event in my calendar. Great for networking, understanding the L&D industry and coming away with fresh perspectives.L&D Manager, Somerset Bridge Group Limited

With over 30 sessions on offer, our conference programme highlighted and investigated the relevant innovations and challenges L&D is facing, helping delegates to effectively plan for the future.

Transformational tech and cutting-edge solutions: The vibrant exhibition

Learning Technologies 2025

The exhibition floor was as lively as ever! Our 200+ exhibitors presented the latest technologies and solutions in learning and development, where attendees could see the future of workplace learning unfold before their eyes. As always, the stands were filled with fun activities – from a live robot to interactive games and sweet treats, it was a packed couple of days!

With over 200 free seminars running every 45 minutes, attendees were spoilt for choice when it came to learning opportunities. Topics focused on the most up-to-date ideas in the industry, including how to engage Gen Z learners, why bite-sized video is revolutionising learning, and even a Google expert breaking down the myths about AI. Our free seminar programme also included a variety of Bitesize Learning Zone sessions, which provided concise, live product demos so people could see the latest cutting-edge solutions in action.

The Learning Technologies Exhibition is an excellent opportunity to see new products and connect with other subject matter experts. I left feeling energised and inspired with new ideas for my Trust.Digital Education Manager, South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

What was new for this year?

One of the new features we were particularly excited to launch was our LT Awards Theatre! The Learning Technologies Awards gala evening takes place every November, and is the most prestigious and sought-after celebration of L&D innovation.

This theatre on the exhibition floor featured Gold-winning projects, with winning teams sharing their experience and presenting the key takeaways from their projects. Award-winning projects discussed varied from e-Learning in breast cancer training to building role-playing games with AI. We even had a behind-the-scenes session from our judges table – a Q&A panel that uncovered insider insights into what makes a project stand out!
