T3S3 - The brain and technology

04 May 2022
Conference Theatre 3
Learning engagement , Professional development , Future L&D
In this exciting and important session, Dr Itiel Dror, Cognitive Neuroscience Researcher, will share his insights into the effect of technology on our brains and our minds, leaving you with some tangible takeaways into how our brains work and are changing - and how this might differ in the future. A provocative talk exploring the cutting edge of cognitive neuroscience and technology, this talk will challenge existing views, and encourage you to rethink how we use technology.

What technology is doing to our brains - and what does this mean for all our futures?
Dr Itiel Dror

Neuronal plasticity makes our brain very dynamic and adaptive. With most of us constantly tethered to technology via our smartphones, computers, tablets, and even watches, we are subjected to the power of technology impacting how we think, our ability think, and many brain processes. As technology is being developed and used at an increasingly rapid pace, let’s consider this: what is its impact on our cognitive functions and specifically how does it impact how we think, learn, and make decisions?

  • Our adaptive brains – and how they are adapting to technology
  • The impact of technology on our cognitive function
  • Is our decision making the same as it’s always been? And if not, what are the implications?
